The top shell has a hard glossy protective layer over the NERV logo to protect the design from scratching. The buttons also have a hard rounded glossy protective layer, giving them a slightly raised, polished feel. The D-pad has a hard protective finish as well. The thumbstick, top screen edge, bottom screen frame, shoulder buttons, hinge, port area, and painted hinge corners have a glossy protective finish that feels grippy while still looking polished.
